Artist Bio

A San Diego native, Jason Hanna is a jazz bandleader, trumpet player, and vocalist whose passion for music is deeply rooted in the Mexican American traditions he grew up with. His musical journey has taken him around the world, including service as a musician in the U.S. Navy, where he played in several Fleet Bands.

Since returning home, Hanna has become a jazz staple in the San Diego music scene, fronting Jason Hanna & the Bullfighters and leading his renowned jazz combo, Jason Hanna and the Swinging Bananas.

With the swagger of a classic crooner, the fire of a seasoned trumpet player, and an infectious energy all his own, Hanna brings the glamour and excitement of the mid-century nightclub era to the modern stage. His performances blend swinging jazz, smooth vocals, sharp musicianship, and playful showmanship—channeling the effortless cool of a bygone era without ever feeling stuck in the past.

Whether he’s behind the trumpet or stepping up to the microphone, Hanna knows how to work a room. Charismatic, stylish, and always entertaining, he turns every performance into a show—inviting audiences to settle in, raise a glass, and enjoy a little old-school magic.

You can find Hanna every Wednesday at The Riviera Supper Club in La Mesa from 7 to 10 pm. He is also a frequent guest performing at Sycuan Casino.
